Haven't Received Your QR Code Yet?
Before we can send your eSIM, the Indonesian Government requires you to fill out a mandatory phone registration form.
As soon as we check your form, we will send your eSIM QR code directly to you on WhatsApp.
Before You Start
- Make sure your Samsung phone works with eSIMs and is not locked to your home carrier network.
- Open your WhatsApp message from us and Save the QR code picture directly to your phone's Gallery.
- Do not delete that QR code picture until your trip ends!
STEP 1 Go to Your Samsung SIM Manager
Open your phone's main Settings app (the gear icon) and tap on these menus one by one:
Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM
STEP 2 Choose Your Saved QR Code Picture
- Your phone's camera will turn on to scan a code. Look at the bottom of your screen and tap the Gallery button (the photo icon).
- Tap on the eSIM QR code picture you saved from WhatsApp earlier.
STEP 3 Let Your Phone Install the eSIM
- Your phone will automatically read the QR code picture. When a box pops up, simply tap Add.
- Wait a moment and let your phone finish downloading the new internet profile line.
STEP 4 Flip the Switch to Turn It ON
Look at your SIM manager screen. Find your new Telkomsel Indonesia eSIM and make sure the toggle switch is flipped to ON.
Note: Don't panic if your phone says "No Service" or "Network Not Available" right now! This is completely normal because your line hasn't been activated by Balitel yet.
STEP 5 Send Us a Picture of Your Screen (IMEI)
Indonesia strictly requires foreign visitors who purchase a local eSIM to register their phone's IMEI. Go to your settings:
Settings → About phone
Take one picture of your screen (screenshot) that clearly shows these two things together:
- ✅ The word TELKOMSEL showing that your new line is turned on.
- ✅ Your phone's IMEI number rows.
Reply to our WhatsApp chat message and send us this screenshot.
❌ Do NOT Send These (We Cannot Use Them):
- Do not just type the IMEI numbers into text messages.
- Do not take a screenshot while your Telkomsel line is turned OFF.
- Do not send a screen picture that hides or cuts off the TELKOMSEL name at the top or bottom.
STEP 6 When Does Your 30-Day Plan Start?
Once we receive your IMEI, Balitel will handle the registration. Your 30-day validity plan starts only when we activate it, not when you scan the code.
- If you are already in Indonesia: We will turn it on right away, and your 30 days begin today.
- If you are traveling later: We will schedule it to turn on precisely on your arrival date so you do not lose any of your 30 internet days.
STEP 7Managing your SIMs
If you are already in Indonesia right now:
- Turn OFF your home country SIM to avoid roaming fees.
- Turn ON your Telkomsel Indonesia eSIM. This is a local local line, so please make sure Data Roaming is turned OFF inside your Telkomsel settings.
If you are still at home and traveling later:
- Keep the Indonesia eSIM turned OFF for now.
- Turn it ON the very second your airplane lands in Indonesia.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install my Samsung eSIM before I travel to Indonesia?
Yes, you can install your Telkomsel eSIM on your Samsung phone before you leave for your trip. We highly recommend setting it up while you are still at home so your phone is ready to connect the moment you land. Your 30 days won't start counting down early; Balitel will wait and activate your eSIM exactly on the day you arrive.
Does scanning the QR code start my 30-day plan?
No, scanning the QR code picture does not start your 30-day internet plan. Scanning just tells your phone to save the eSIM information.
Can I keep my normal home SIM active at the same time?
Yes, Samsung Galaxy phones can keep your regular home SIM and your new Telkomsel Indonesia eSIM turned on at the exact same time. However, to prevent your home telephone company from charging you expensive international fees, you should turn off internet data roaming on your primary home SIM while you are away.
