Sheila Theodora
Second generation at Diamond Handphone, the Bali phone shop my father opened in 1998. I have worked the counter since 2017. Registered owner of Telkomsel outlet 3301071729, and founder of Balitel.
Who I am
My father opened Diamond Handphone in 1998. I grew up around it, joined properly in 2017, and run it today. That is nine years of standing behind a counter in Bali selling phones and SIM cards, mostly to tourists, mostly to people who are tired, jet-lagged and just want their phone to work.
Balitel is mine. I launched it in December 2025 and we took our first order in January 2026. It is the first thing I have built outside the family business, and it exists because of a problem I watched happen at the counter for years.
People would arrive already frustrated. They had queued at the airport and overpaid. Or they had bought a roaming eSIM before flying and could not create a Gojek account, because the verification code needs an Indonesian number and their eSIM did not have one. Every one of those conversations happened after they landed, when it was too late to fix cheaply.
Telkomsel does not sell eSIMs online to tourists. Their online purchase requires an Indonesian ID card or a KITAS residence permit. So the only way a visitor can land already connected is through an authorized retailer who registers the passport and the device IMEI in advance. That is what Balitel does.
What you can check
Most eSIM companies ask you to trust a logo. Here is everything about us that a sceptic could actually verify.

Any Telkomsel dealer or distributor can look up outlet 3301071729. We publish it because most eSIM sellers cannot show you anything equivalent.
Yes, Balitel is new. We are not going to hide that. The website opened in December 2025 and our first customer bought in January 2026. The shop behind it has been trading in Bali for 27 years, and the person answering your WhatsApp has been doing this since 2017. Judge us on the licence and the address, not the domain age.
Come and see us
This is the part app-only eSIM companies cannot offer. If something goes wrong with your eSIM, there is a door you can walk through and a person standing behind the counter.

How I write about competitors
I sell Telkomsel eSIMs. That is a conflict of interest and pretending otherwise would be insulting. So here is the standard I hold our comparison pages to.
- Every comparison names where the competitor wins. If Airalo is cheaper for your trip, the page says buy Airalo. If Holafly's refund window beats ours, the page says so. Those sections are not decoration.
- Prices carry a date and a source. If a figure is from a company's own page, we say that. If it is reported rather than published, we say that too.
- We correct ourselves on the page. When we get something wrong, we fix it and note it rather than quietly editing.
- We do not run affiliate links. When we recommend a competitor's plan, we earn nothing from it.
I read and approve every comparison before it goes live.
What I actually do myself
When I travel somewhere for under five days — Malaysia, Thailand — I buy a 3GB or 5GB travel eSIM on Klook. I do not buy a local SIM. For a short trip it is the right tool, and I would rather tell you that than sell you a plan you do not need.
A local line makes sense when you are staying long enough to need an Indonesian number: Gojek, Grab, QRIS, local bookings. In Bali that is usually a week or more.
