FAQs

This page answers the most common questions about using a Telkomsel Tourist Bali eSIM for travelers, including phone compatibility, activation, coverage, and using ride apps in Indonesia.

Using the eSIM

What is a Bali eSIM?

A Bali eSIM is a digital SIM card that lets you activate mobile internet without inserting a physical SIM. After purchase, you receive a QR code that installs the eSIM on your phone within minutes.

With an eSIM, you do not need to remove or swap your physical SIM card.

Do I need to register my phone IMEI in Indonesia if I stay less than 90 days?

Yes. If you use a local eSIM with an Indonesian +62 phone number, your phone’s IMEI still needs to be registered in Indonesia, even if you stay for less than 90 days.

IMEI registration is required to activate a local mobile number on the Telkomsel network, which allows the eSIM to work with local services during your trip.

Can I keep my home SIM card while using the Bali eSIM?

Yes. Most modern smartphones support dual SIM, which allows you to use two SIMs at the same time.

This means you can keep your home SIM card (or another eSIM) in your phone while using the Bali eSIM for mobile data. Many devices such as newer Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, and Google Pixel models support physical SIM + eSIM or dual eSIM.

Do I need to swap my SIM card?

No. Because the eSIM is digital, you do not need to remove or swap your physical SIM card.

Which phones support eSIM?

Most flagship smartphones released in the last few years support eSIM. This includes iPhone XS and newer models, many Samsung Galaxy devices, Xiaomi, and Google Pixel phones.
