Why Balitel?
Cheaper Than All 3
Cheaper than travel eSIMs, airports, and local shops. Local shops in Bali look cheap — but charge crazy high, and you must bargain.
Ready Before You Arrive
Set it up at home. Internet works when you land. No airport line. No shops.
Local Number for Local Apps
A real Indonesian number on Telkomsel, the country's biggest network. Make local calls and sign up for apps like Grab and Gojek — a travel eSIM has no number, so you can't.
Free IMEI Registration
You do nothing, we handle it. No airport queue. IMEI registered for you.
Balitel vs. the alternatives
Cheaper than travel eSIMs. Easier than the airport. Safer than local shops.

What's the difference between a local Bali eSIM (Balitel) and a global travel eSIM (Holafly, Airalo, Saily)?
A travel eSIM gives you internet only. A local Bali Indonesia eSIM gives you internet plus an Indonesian phone number.
The number lets you call, text, and get the sign-up codes for local apps like Grab, Gojek, and Shopee. Those codes come by text (SMS) to an Indonesian number.
A travel eSIM has no number, so it cannot do this.
Should I get a travel eSIM or a local Bali Indonesia eSIM?
Get a local Bali eSIM if you want to use Grab or Gojek in Bali. These apps need an Indonesian phone number to sign up.
A travel eSIM has internet only, no number, so you cannot sign up. A local Bali eSIM has both.
Do I really need a phone number, or is internet enough?
You need a number if you need local apps like Grab and Gojek. To sign up, they text you a code, and that code only comes to an Indonesian number. No number means no code.
If you only want to browse the web, internet is enough. If you want the apps, you need the number.
Is a local Bali Indonesia eSIM cheaper than a travel eSIM?
Yes. A travel eSIM is a foreign company. It buys internet from a local network here in Indonesia, adds its own markup, and sells it to you.
A local Bali eSIM is sold at the local price, with no extra company in the middle. So it often costs less.
Why not just buy a SIM card at the airport?
You can. But the line can be long, and the price is higher. You also need to show your passport there to register the phone. With Balitel you buy online before you fly, and we do the registration for you.
Will it work outside Bali, like Jakarta or other islands?
Yes. It uses the Telkomsel network, which covers all of Indonesia. It works in Bali and the rest of the country.
If I buy now, when does my eSIM turn on?
You can buy now, before your trip. We turn it on (activate it) only when you are in Indonesia. So it turns on on the day you arrive in Indonesia.
If you are already in Indonesia, we can turn it on today. The eSIM can only be turned on inside Indonesia.
Your plan starts when we turn it on, not when you buy. So buying early does not waste any days.
Can I cancel and get a refund?
Yes. You get a full refund if two things are true: you ask within 30 days of buying, and the eSIM is not active yet.
The eSIM becomes active when we register your phone (your IMEI).
Before that step, you can still get a full refund. After it, we cannot refund it, because a digital eSIM cannot be used again.
What if my phone cannot use an eSIM?
If your phone cannot use an eSIM, and we have not registered your IMEI or turned it on yet, you can get a full refund within 30 days.
This is why we ask you to check your phone first. Dial *#06# and look for "EID".
If you are not sure, ask us before you buy.
I do not want to give my passport anymore. Can I get a refund?
Yes, as long as you ask within 30 days and we have not registered your IMEI or turned on the eSIM yet.
We need your passport to register your IMEI with the government. If you do not want to give it, tell us before we start and we will refund you.
How do I get a refund?
Email hello@balitel.com with your order number and the email you used to buy. We usually reply within 1 hour during working hours.
Once we approve it, the money goes back to your original payment method in 3 to 7 business days.
Will an eSIM work on my phone?
You can check yourself in a few seconds. Open the app where you type a number to call. Type *#06# on the keypad. Your phone will show a list of numbers. If you see one called "EID", your phone can use an eSIM. If there is no EID, it cannot.
Most phones released in 2018 or later work, like iPhone XS and newer and most newer Samsung and Google phones. If you are still not sure, send us your phone model and we will check.
Is it hard to set up?
No. You scan one QR code to turn it on, and we help you do it. Most people have internet as soon as they land.
Will I lose my WhatsApp or my own number?
No. Your phone can run two lines at once. Keep your home line for WhatsApp and calls. Use the Bali Indonesia eSIM for internet and your Indonesian number.
The eSIM does not work. What can I do?
Email us at hello@balitel.com or message us right away. We will help you get it working.
Why do you need my passport?
Indonesian law says your phone must be linked to your passport to use a local number. It is a government rule, not our rule. We do this step for you.
Is my passport safe with you?
Yes. We only use it to register your phone. We delete it right after. We do not keep it, sell it, or share it. Balitel is an official Telkomsel partner and a company registered in Indonesia. The airport and every real SIM seller need your passport too, because it is the law.
Is Balitel a real company?
Yes. Balitel is an official Telkomsel partner in Bali and a registered company. We turn on your eSIM and do the passport registration for you. You can reach us before and during your trip if you need help.
