Quick answer
Most visitors to Bali stay between 5 days and 18 days. It depends on where they fly from.
In 2025, visitors from Europe stayed the longest: about 17 to 18 days (16.88 nights). Visitors from Southeast Asia stayed the shortest: about 5 to 6 days (4.63 nights). Visitors from Australia and New Zealand stayed about 10 to 11 days (9.48 nights).
Visitors spent about US$88 to US$145 per person per day, including hotels, depending on their region.
These numbers come from the official Bali government statistics office, BPS Bali. Bali had 6,948,754 foreign arrivals in 2025, the highest number ever recorded.

Nights or days? How we converted the numbers
BPS counts nights, the way a hotel does. But most people plan a trip in days.
A trip of 4 nights covers 5 days. You arrive on day 1 and fly home on day 5. So to turn nights into days, add 1.
Example: Europeans stayed 16.88 nights on average. Add 1 and you get 17.88 days, or about 17 to 18 days.
BPS also rounds each average into a range, like "16 to 17 nights". We moved each range up by one day. Every table below shows both: the official nights, and the days.
How long each region stays in Bali (2025)
Europe, Africa and Asia stay the longest. Southeast Asia stays the shortest.
| Where visitors come from | Official average (nights) | In days (about) | Arrivals to Bali in 2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europe | 16.88 nights | 17 to 18 days | 1,814,799 |
| Africa | 15.39 nights | 16 to 17 days | 79,080 |
| Asia (outside Southeast Asia) | 13.41 nights | 14 to 15 days | 2,033,460 |
| Middle East | 13.11 nights | 14 to 15 days | 83,151 |
| Americas | 12.11 nights | 13 to 14 days | 427,944 |
| Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific) | 9.48 nights | 10 to 11 days | 1,797,623 |
| Southeast Asia (ASEAN) | 4.63 nights | 5 to 6 days | 712,697 |
All seven regions add up to 6,948,754 arrivals. BPS measures the whole stay in Indonesia, so a trip that also visits Lombok or Java counts those nights too.
Top 5 countries in each region
BPS does not publish length of stay for each country, only for each region. So the stay below is the region's average. The country lists show who makes up that region.
Europe: about 17 to 18 days (16.88 nights)
Europe sent 1,814,799 arrivals, 26.1% of all foreign arrivals to Bali. These 5 countries make up 62.9% of European arrivals.

| 3 | Germany | 205,927 |
| 4 | Russia | 204,130 |
| 5 | Netherlands | 134,409 |

| 2 | Morocco | 13,315 |
| 3 | Tunisia | 9,005 |

| 5 | Kenya | 4,804 |
A note on the source: in the Africa section (page 54), the BPS text says "Middle East" (Timur Tengah) where it should say "Africa". This is a typo. The 15.39 nights figure sits in the Africa section, and the Middle East has its own figure of 13.11 nights.
Asia (outside Southeast Asia): about 14 to 15 days (13.41 nights)
Asia is Bali's biggest region: 2,033,460 arrivals, 29.3% of the total. BPS counts Southeast Asian countries separately, under ASEAN. These 5 countries make up 87.6% of Asian arrivals.

Why do some visitors stay longer than others?
The simple rule: the harder it is to get to Bali, the longer people stay once they arrive. BPS does not explain the differences, so this section is our own reading of the numbers, not BPS data.
- Long flights need long trips. From Singapore, Bali is a 2½-hour flight. From Europe, it is 15 to 20 hours or more, plus jet lag. Few people fly that far for 5 days, so they stay longer to make the journey worth it.
- Time off work. Europeans usually get 4 weeks or more of paid holiday a year and take long summer breaks. The report shows European arrivals peak in August (218,648), about double November (109,301). Americans also fly far but usually get less holiday. That may be why the Americas average (13 to 14 days) is shorter than Europe's.
- Easy to come back. Australians can fly direct in about 6 hours, and many visit Bali again and again. When you can easily return, you do not need to see everything in one trip.
- Short breaks from nearby. Southeast Asian visitors often come for long weekends and school holidays. The report shows Singapore arrivals jump to 32,480 in December, about double a normal month.
- More stops on long trips. BPS counts the whole stay in Indonesia. Visitors who fly a long way are more likely to add Lombok, the Gili Islands or Java, and those nights count too.
Two regions do not fit this pattern neatly:
- Asia (outside Southeast Asia): flights from India or China take about as long as from Australia, yet these visitors stay about 4 nights longer. The report does not say why.
- Africa: with only 79,080 arrivals, it is the smallest group, so its average likely rests on fewer survey answers. Treat 15.39 nights as a rough guide.
So how many days should you stay in Bali?
The data shows a simple pattern. People from nearby countries take short trips. People who fly long-haul stay about two weeks or more.
- Flying from Singapore, Malaysia or nearby: 5 to 6 days is what most Southeast Asian visitors do.
- Flying from Australia or New Zealand: 10 to 11 days is the norm.
- Flying long-haul (Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, India, China, Korea or Japan): plan about 2 weeks. Europeans average close to 18 days.
Is one week enough? Seven days is longer than the average Southeast Asian visitor stays. It is shorter than the average for every other region.
These are averages, not rules. They also cover the whole trip in Indonesia. If you add Lombok or Java, give Bali fewer of those days.
Pick an eSIM that fits your stay. Every regional average in this article is under 30 days. So one 30-day eSIM covers a typical Bali trip, from a 5-day visit from Singapore to an 18-day holiday from Europe. Balitel's 30-day plans come in 10 GB, 20 GB, 53 GB and 103 GB.
Staying longer than 30 days? See the 60-day plan (150 GB) or the 90-day plan (200 GB).
How much do visitors spend per day in Bali?
In 2025, visitors spent about US$88 to US$145 per person per day, including hotels, depending on their region. Visitors from the Americas spent the most per day. Visitors from Asia (outside Southeast Asia) spent the least.
BPS reports spending per trip ("rata-rata pengeluaran dalam sekali kunjungan"). To get spending per day, we divided it by the average trip length in days (nights + 1).
| Where visitors come from | Spending per trip | Average trip | Spending per day (about) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Americas | US$1,896.98 | 13.1 days | US$145 |
| Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific) | US$1,398.72 | 10.5 days | US$133 |
| Middle East | US$1,726.02 | 14.1 days | US$122 |
| Southeast Asia (ASEAN) | US$662.18 | 5.6 days | US$118 |
| Europe | US$1,916.60 | 17.9 days | US$107 |
| Africa | US$1,742.64 | 16.4 days | US$106 |
| Asia (outside Southeast Asia) | US$1,263.81 | 14.4 days | US$88 |
What this tells you:
- Longer trips usually cost less per day. Europeans and Africans stay the longest and spend about US$106 to US$107 a day. Visitors from the Americas and Oceania take shorter trips and spend US$133 to US$145 a day.
- A short trip is not a cheap day. Southeast Asian visitors spend the least per trip (US$662.18), but about US$118 a day. Their trips are just short.
- These are averages per visitor. A backpacker in a guesthouse spends far less. A guest in a private pool villa spends far more.
Spending is per visitor for the whole trip in Indonesia, in US dollars. It includes hotels: BPS figures for late 2024 show hotels plus food and drink made up about 57% of what foreign visitors spent in Indonesia (Antara, reporting BPS data). The report does not say whether it includes flights to Indonesia.

About the data
Every number in this article comes from one report, except the hotel share noted below: Foreign Tourist Statistics of Bali Province 2025 (Statistik Wisatawan Mancanegara ke Provinsi Bali 2025), published by BPS Bali on 15 June 2026.
- Arrivals are foreign visitors who arrived directly in Bali in 2025, counted by passport. One person who visits twice counts twice.
- Length of stay comes from BPS's 2025 survey of foreign visitor spending. It is reported by region, not by country, and covers the whole stay in Indonesia.
- Days are our conversion: official nights + 1.
- Spending per trip comes from the same BPS spending survey, per visitor, in US dollars, and includes hotels. Spending per day is our calculation: spending per trip divided by days. The hotel share (about 57% for hotels plus food and drink, late 2024) comes from Antara's report on BPS data, not from this report.
- Asia in the report does not include Southeast Asian countries. BPS lists those separately as ASEAN.
- Top 5 countries come from the report's appendix tables (Lampiran 4 and 5, pages 67 to 70).
- Region pages in the report: Asia page 37, Europe page 41, Oceania page 43, ASEAN page 48, Americas page 51, Africa page 54, Middle East page 55.
