How to Install & Activate Telkomsel Indonesia eSIM on the Same iPhone | 2026 Guide by Balitel

Haven't Received Your eSIM Yet?

Before we can send your QR code, you must complete the mandatory registration form.

Once verified, we will send your eSIM QR code via WhatsApp.

Before You Start

  • Ensure your iPhone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked.
  • Save the eSIM QR code image from WhatsApp to your Photos.
  • Keep the QR code image saved until your trip ends.

STEP 1 Open Your Camera App

Open the iPhone Camera app.

STEP 2 Access Your Saved QR Code

  1. Tap the photo thumbnail in the bottom-left corner to open your camera's photo library.
  2. Locate and open your saved eSIM QR code image.

STEP 3 Install the eSIM

  1. Tap and hold the QR code directly on your screen.
  2. Tap Add eSIM when the prompt appears.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions until the installation is complete.
Important: Scanning the QR code only installs the eSIM profile onto your iPhone—it does NOT activate your mobile service yet.

STEP 4 Turn ON Your Indonesia eSIM

Go to your iPhone settings and turn ON your new Telkomsel eSIM line.

Note: It is completely normal for it to show "No Service" or "Network Not Available" at this stage because it is not yet activated.

STEP 5 Send Us Your IMEI Screenshot

Indonesia strictly requires IMEI registration before tourist eSIMs can be activated. Navigate to your settings:

Settings → General → About

Take one screenshot that clearly displays both pieces of information:

  • ✅ The TELKOMSEL carrier label
  • ✅ Your IMEI number

Reply to our WhatsApp message and send us this screenshot.

❌ Do NOT Send These (We Cannot Use Them for Activation):

  • Text-only IMEI numbers typed into chat.
  • Screenshots where the Telkomsel line is turned OFF.
  • Screenshots from the "Share Device Identifiers" barcode screen.
  • Screenshots missing the TELKOMSEL carrier name.
Warning: If you do not send us your visual IMEI screenshot from the 'About' page, your eSIM will NOT work and cannot be activated.

STEP 6 Activation & Timing

Once we receive your IMEI, Balitel will handle the registration. Your 30-day validity plan starts only when we activate it, not when you scan the code.

  • If you are already in Indonesia: We will activate it immediately and your 30-day plan starts today.
  • If you are traveling later: We will schedule activation for your arrival date so you don't lose any data days.

STEP 7 Managing Your SIMs

If you are already in Indonesia:

  • Turn OFF your home SIM to avoid roaming charges.
  • Turn ON your Telkomsel Indonesia eSIM. This is a local eSIM, ensure Data Roaming is disabled (TURN OFF) for the Telkomsel Indonesia line.

If you are traveling later:

  • Keep the eSIM turned OFF for now.
  • Turn it ON the moment you arrive in Indonesia.

Does installing the eSIM start my 30-day plan?

No, installing the eSIM profile does not start your 30-day validity plan. Your 30-day plan only starts when Balitel officially activates your eSIM line. If you're already in Indonesia, activation happens today. If you're traveling later, we activate it precisely on your arrival date so you do not lose data days.

Can I keep my home SIM active?

Yes, you can keep your home SIM active alongside your tourist eSIM. Modern iPhones support multiple active SIM lines simultaneously. However, to stay safe from high international data fees, we advise turning off data roaming specifically on your home SIM line while actively using your Telkomsel Indonesia eSIM for mobile data.
